I Get Down Sometimes...

I consider myself to be a positive person. A "cup half-full" type of thinker. Still, I must admit, I get down sometimes. When I do get down, that's when the complaining starts. I'm not happy with the weather, my job or traffic. The problems always have to do with something or someone else - certainly not my fault! But I'm getting better at recognizing the symptoms and I get quicker to ask God to forgive my ungratefulness. I don't have to look very far around me to realize that I actually have a very blessed life. I don't need to look very far outside of this country to realize that as a nation we are very blessed. I have a lot to be thankful for.

I have learned that a very healthy mental exercise is to occasionally put pencil to paper and write a list of everything I am thankful for. My God and my salvation are always at the top of that list. My family and our health. My job, a car to get around, a house to call home. Pretty soon I see a pretty long list! I do not want to have an ungrateful attitude toward God when He has blessed me so very much.

Psalm 103:1-5 "Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!"
